Boris Johnson has paused the progress of his Brexit deal by the Home of Commons after MPs rejected his timetable for passing obligatory laws.

The Commons voted by 322 to 308 to reject the federal government’s programme movement for the Withdrawal Settlement Invoice, which goals to place the prime minister’s Brexit deal into UK regulation.

The outcome threatens Mr Johnson’s promise to take the UK out of the EU on 31 October “do or die”.
