How to choose a projector bracket

Have you bought a projector at home to watch new movies with your family? Is there a need to equip the school class with new equipment? Do you want to install a powerful projector in the auditorium to show presentations? Wonderful! But here it turns out that it’s not enough just to choose and buy a projector, for comfortable viewing it is necessary to install it correctly, and along with the difficult choice of the projector itself, the task arises of choosing the right bracket for it in accordance with the characteristics, installation location and tasks performed.

But what are the brackets for projectors and how they differ from each other, we will consider.

Installation location

The choice of a possible location for the projector is determined by the configuration of the particular room in which it will be installed, the screen size and the characteristics of the device already purchased. That is, the parameters of the projector set a small field of options, and from them a possible place is selected depending on the geometry of the room, and then, based on this, the appropriate type of fastening is already determined. Sometimes it happens the other way around – a specific installation location is decisive, and then a projector model and screen size are selected for it (for it). Thus, the combination of installation location, projector model, and bracket type is constant, and changing one is likely to change the others.

If the Projector Screens have already been purchased, then in order to properly install it, you need to know several technical characteristics of the device itself. The first is the projection distance (projection ratio). It is always indicated in the characteristics of the device and shows what distance to the screen is required for the selected frame size. The user manual usually provides a table of available optimal image sizes depending on the distance. For most projectors, the projection ratio can be changed within certain limits using optical or digital zoom, and this allows you to install the device a little further and closer, or vice versa, without moving the projector, change the image scale. (It should be remembered that digital correction, unlike optical correction, reduces the sharpness of the image).

The second parameter that you need to know is the offset, it shows the departure (shift) of the projection along the vertical relative to the lens (for a desktop installation – up, for a ceiling installation – down).

One of the popular types of fastening. It is used as a stationary option if the screen location is permanent, and the projector itself is not transferred to different locations for presentations. It is also necessary to exclude the impact of small children and pets both on the projector body itself and on the cords and cables leading to it, however, an adult can step on or stumble over the wire and cause the device to fall.

Wall brackets

The same fixed option, as in the previous case, is used when, due to the presence of a chandelier, point light sources, a multi-level or low ceiling, or the artistic design of the latter, the projector has to be fixed to the wall. Suitable for projector installation on walls made of solid wood, concrete or concrete blocks. Since the optical axis will be shifted, and quite significantly, the projector model must be able to compensate for keystone distortion.


Projector Screens

Motorized projector lifts are used for concealed installation of the unit in a false ceiling. Most often they are used in office, administrative and industrial premises where there is sufficient space or a niche for installing a mechanism (although ultra-thin models with a height of 30-40 cm are also produced). For home use, such a mechanism is usually used to preserve the design style of the room. The lifting mechanism can be cable or worm, etc.

The most common type of attachment (position), as it will allow you to use any comfortable furniture as substitutes. This option provides a very quick installation and the ability to move along with the screen to another point in the room to quickly find the best image quality. This option may be needed, among other things, for a quick change of position at different times of the day, if sunlight enters the room or a draft from an open window, an air conditioner or a fan shakes the screen. Also, this installation option is needed if the projector itself is used as a mobile projector for presentations of business projects in different rooms.

Selection criteria for price.

As the cost of the brackets increases, the weight of the projectors that they can support increases, additional adjustments appear in the form of angles of inclination, rotation (or both at once), the rod becomes adjustable, and its length varies more and more, the bracket itself becomes universal with the possibility of fastening as on the wall, and on the ceiling, the quality of workmanship and assembly increases.

The connection itself is not difficult – all the necessary fittings (screws, screws, dowels) are included with the projector. In the case of using a universal mount, it is only necessary to center the device so that none of the corners outweigh, and only then carefully fix all the screws, turning them all the way.
