How to Remove a Google Account From Chrome
If you’re using Google Chrome on a desktop or mobile, you may have added a Google account to the browser. It’s a convenient feature for those who share their devices with others, but it can also be problematic regarding privacy.
Chrome automatically signs you into your Google account whenever you sign into a Google service, like Gmail or YouTube. Thankfully, you can remove the Google account from Chrome.
1. Go to Settings
Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers with many features. Signing in to Chrome using an email address creates a user profile that stores bookmarks, passwords, browsing history, and other data.
However, there may come a time when you want to remove that account. This will ensure you won’t have any of that data loaded every time you open your Chrome browser.
To remove a Google account from your Chrome browser, go to Settings and click on Other Profiles. This will bring up a menu that lists all the funds you have linked to your browser. Locate the one you want to remove and click on Delete.
2. Click on Other Profiles
If you’re using Chrome on your computer and want to remove a google account from it, there are several ways to do so. One of them is by removing the profile itself.
When you log into your browser with an email address, Chrome creates a user profile that stores your data, like browsing history and passwords. You can then delete that profile to get rid of your data entirely.
However, deleting your profile will also erase any Google services you use with that account. That’s why ensuring you only delete a profile when necessary is essential.
To do this, click your profile picture in the top-right corner of Chrome. This will drop down a profile box, and you can then navigate to Other Profiles at the bottom.
3. Hover over the account you want to remove
The good old Google Chrome web browser is a great way to browse the web, but it can also be a bigtime time waster. Whether you want to free up some space on your hard drive or uninstall the Google app, here are a few steps to remove that account from your life.
If you are using the latest version of the Chrome browser on your Mac or PC, there is a straightforward step-by-step process to remove that nifty little tchotchke from your hard drive and return to browsing. It is a bit more complicated for Windows users, but you may find this trick of the trade in any browser you use on your device. After you’ve done the hard work, you can go about your typical day. We are not saying you will be the envy of your friends and colleagues, but this method should help keep your privacy intact and your digits safe and sound.
4. Click on Delete
Google accounts allow you to sign into Chrome across multiple devices and sync your bookmarks, history, and passwords. But if you no longer want to use your Google account on Chrome, you can easily remove it from the browser.
To do this, click on a user profile you want to delete from the settings menu. You’ll see a list of all the profiles you’ve signed in to with your Google account.
When you remove a profile, you’ll be prompted to confirm. If you do, the profile will be removed from Chrome permanently, and your data will be deleted from the device.
If you delete a Google account linked to your email address, you will lose browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, and other personalizations. However, you can sign back in using your email to regain access to these files.
