Hurricane Dorian wreaks havoc on Bahamas as 'catastrophic' Class 5 storm

Yachts lie capsized in harbours after hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas on Sunday. It intensified right into a harmful class 5 storm because it approached and pounded the island chain with torrential rain, excessive waves and damaging winds. The Nationwide Hurricane Heart (NHC) has warned of wind gusts of greater than 220mph (355km/h) and a storm surge of as much as 23ft (7m), that may trigger “excessive destruction” and will proceed for “a number of hours”. Earlier, Samuel Butler from the Royal Bahamas police drive stated: ‘We’ve got our limitations. When the hurricane is upon us we will be unable to behave. The roads can be full of water … and we will be unable to get to you.”
