Iran assault: US troops focused with ballistic missiles – BBC Information

Iran has carried out a ballistic missile assault on air bases housing US forces in Iraq, in retaliation for the US killing of Common Qasem Soleimani.

Greater than a dozen missiles launched from Iran struck two air bases in Irbil and Al Asad, west of Baghdad.

It’s unclear if there have been any casualties.

The preliminary response from Washington has been muted. President Trump tweeted that each one was nicely and mentioned casualties and injury have been being assessed.

Two Iraqi bases housing US and coalition troops have been focused – one at Al Asad and one in Irbil at about 2:00am native time (10.30pm GMT), simply hours after the burial of Soleimani.

The Al Asad airbase – positioned within the Anbar province of western Iraq – was hit by at the very least six missiles.
