Protesters in Lebanon block roads with burning tyres and march in Beirut for a second day in demonstrations focusing on the federal government over the nation’s financial disaster.
In Lebanon’s largest protest in years, hundreds gathered outdoors the federal government headquarters in central Beirut on Thursday night, forcing the cupboard to backtrack on plans to boost a brand new tax on WhatsApp voice calls.
Tear gasoline was fired as some demonstrators and police clashed within the early hours of Friday morning.
Habib Battah, an investigative journalist and blogger at Beirut Report, talks to Al Jazeera in regards to the protests.
