Police in northern Nigeria have freed 67 individuals who had been discovered shackled at an Islamic boarding faculty, officers say.
The pupils, between the ages of seven and 40, informed police they’d been tortured and abused.
Final month, greater than 300 male college students have been free of an analogous boarding faculty in neighbouring Kaduna state.
Islamic boarding faculties, often called Almajiris, are widespread throughout the mostly-Muslim north of Nigeria.
In a press release launched on Monday, police mentioned the boys and males have been chained and subjected to “inhuman and degrading remedies”. Some had been sexually abused.
