Glossier Skin Care Review

20

Glossier is one of those beauty brands everyone knows and recognizes regardless of skincare and makeup preferences – irrespective of who the customer may be. Established in 2014 as a direct-to-consumer business, its millennial pink packaged products have inspired a new generation to love all things beauty-related.

Emily Weiss sought feedback from Into the Gloss readers to formulate inclusive yet easy-to-use products that would provide radiant, dewy skin:

1. Milky Jelly Cleanser

Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser may be the ideal cleanser. This creamy gel cleanser boasts an optimal pH balance, is suitable for all skin types, and is even safe to use on the eyes (it’s without artificial fragrances or colors). Plus, its five skin conditioners leave your face feeling soft without tightness; plus two alpha hydroxy acids–Glycolic and Mandelic acids–which speed cellular turnover to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, as well as sodium Hyaluronate which retains moisture in your skin – these ingredients make up this excellent cleanser!

This cleanser is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Formulated with ingredients such as allantoin (which has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties), comfrey root extract (to soothe redness and reduce redness), and aquaxyl (or xylitylglucoside), which works to reduce dryness. Furthermore, the cleanser is free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and other toxins – it makes an ideal cleanser!

Milky Jelly Cleanser can be used as an everyday face wash or as part of a double-cleanse regimen to remove heavy makeup and impurities from your skin. Ideal for those who wear heavy makeup such as mascara, blush, foundation, or eyeliner; massage onto dry skin, then add water until emulsified before rinsing and pat drying for best results.

Regular use of this cleanser can help clear up acne breakouts and prevent future ones from occurring while improving the tone and texture of your skin. You’ll notice smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, brightening of dark spots, and balance in uneven skin tone as well as more profound and thorough cleansing because the formula breaks up dirt embedded deep within pores.

2. Super Glow Serum

Brightening serum with high concentrations of Vitamin C provides potent antioxidant support against dark spots and sun damage for an even tone and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Additional ingredients such as Ferulic Acid – an anti-aging ingredient known to diminish fine lines and wrinkles; Skullcap Root, Mulberry Leaf, and Bearberry Extracts as botanical anti-pigmentation solutions; Hyaluronic Acid as a skin hydrator, which restores plumpness to the complexion is included to give this brightening serum its revitalizing benefits.

This serum offers an optimal blend of Vitamin C and magnesium to give skin visible smoother, more even surfaces. In addition, its formula features natural extracts and oils such as Camellia Oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Turmeric Oil for maximum nourishment in an easy, non-greasy formula suitable for most skin types.

Niacinamide serum may not have the most potency or effectiveness, but this one offers solid performance across most skin types. With no artificial fillers and clean INCI ingredients, this treatment is perfect for sensitive or acne-prone skin types or those looking for gentle therapies.

Supers Serum is the latest addition to Glossier’s Supers line and is designed to give your skin that famous Glossier glow. Packed with Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, and other natural extracts – as well as potent antioxidants that will guard against free radical damage that causes dullness, dryness, and fine lines – it offers comprehensive skin health support.

Glossier’s Director of Product Marketing & Development Melissa Souto suggests thinking of the Supers as supplements for your skin; each one can work to meet whatever needs your complexion may have at any given moment,” The Zoe Report reports. Melissa suggested layering them in order to get optimal results: Super Pure first, followed by Super Glow, and finally Super Bounce to ensure all ingredients penetrate fully and give maximum benefits.

3. Perfecting Skin Tint

Skin tints offer an ideal minimal makeup look for those who appreciate minimal coverage. “Tints don’t aim to cover everything – they add just a light wash of color that evens out discolorations while creating an all-over natural-looking glow,” according to Kenneth Soh, a professional makeup artist whose work has appeared in Vogue and Elle magazines. Additionally, many tints contain skincare ingredients (such as the Glossier formulation containing squalane and argan oil) to keep skin hydrated and soft!

Glossier offers the ideal formula for makeup minimalists: this hydrating, natural-looking, lightweight foundation. Though it doesn’t provide much coverage – for redness or blemishes that need additional cover-up if necessary – its soft blur effect gives your complexion that Instagram-ready glow. Plus, it is free from fragrance and parabens that could irritate sensitive skin!

If you have oily skin, select a skin tint with a matte finish, which can help control excess oil production and prevent breakouts. Also, look for non-comedogenic one so as not to clog your pores.

Remember that skin tints tend to come in limited shades; however, Nars’ popular pick offers several shades that will suit most skin tones.

This skin tint is the ultimate makeup minimalist’s dream, featuring an ultra-lightweight consistency that blends effortlessly into the complexion without looking cakey or overly pigmented. Packed with moisturizing shea butter to provide soothing comfort, it comes with matte finishing, which doesn’t add extra shine or emphasize dry patches or lines for an effective oily skin solution.

To apply, start by cleansing and applying a lightweight moisturizer before dabbing a small amount of skin tint onto the back of your hand and using your fingertips to blend it into the skin. Finally, use a clean brush to remove any streaks or areas of unevenness in the complexion.

4. Super Detoxifying Clay Mask

Clay masks can help your pores stay clear of dirt, oil, and bacteria, helping keep clogs at bay and pimples at bay. Luckily, this one’s creamy enough not to leave your skin tight or irritated (a common complaint about most clay masks). It is formulated with shea butter, aloe vera gel, and lavender for soothing, balancing action without over-drying. At the same time, its Umbrian clays come directly from Italy and are combined with blackhead-targeting salicylic acid for deep clean-out action.

This budget-friendly mask works well for all skin types, but is particularly beneficial to those with oily or acne-prone complexions. The key ingredients are kaolin and bentonite – known for absorbing impurities and excess sebum — plus charcoal to absorb any build-up in pores and keep pores looking clear. Plus, it contains pore-smoothing ingredients like niacinamide and ginger root extract that boost radiance while decreasing fine lines!

Only one drawback exists with this mask – it tends to dry down into an unpleasant, hard-to-remove texture after only a few minutes of being left on. But, with a quick rinse at the sink with a sponge, it should clear right up quickly!

Our tester found it worth her while to take longer to remove; this clay mask still managed to draw out dirt and sebum while nourishing her complexion. After one use, her pores had already seen decreased size! Moreover, our tester appreciated how this product does not contain eucalyptus oil, which may cause sensitive skin users discomfort through a tingling sensation. However, other options, such as Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask or Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Purifying Mask, may cause this phenomenon!
